Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect when starting counseling?

During the initial consultation, we will discuss what you are currently facing, if my counseling services would be a good fit for you, and what you would like to get out of counseling. Our first session is an intake, where the main goal is getting to know each other! During that session, I will also assess your symptoms and get information about your history. From there, we will work together to create a mental wellness plan that best fits your particular needs, values, and goals. Counseling sessions can be scheduled within my office hours Monday through Friday and last 55-60 minutes.

What are your fees?

My full out-of-pocket session fee is $140 per individual session.

I do accept several insurance plans, which are listed below.

Do you accept insurance?

I accept the following insurance plans: Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Optum, Oxford, United Health, Oscar, Carelon, Quest Behavioral Health.

I am an Out of Network provider for other insurance companies. I can provide help for submitting claims for out-of-network reimbursement, but I cannot guarantee the coverage of provided services and do not bill OON companies directly. I recommend contacting your insurance or using Mentaya to ask about your out-of-network benefits.

Why does therapy cost so much?

Counseling is a valuable and personal investment in your overall mental well-being, offering support that often leads to a profound and lasting positive impact on various aspects of your life. The dedication you make toward your emotional wellness through therapy will not only improve your mental state and boost your self-confidence but also empower you to effectively work toward and achieve the important personal goals you have set for your future.

While some of my clients see me long-term, many of my clients approach counseling to deal with a short term difficulty. Change can be accomplished through counseling within a relatively brief amount of time, especially when you are open to the process, ready to fully commit to the work involved, and willing to invest in both yourself and the quality of your life.

Before seeking counseling from a less expensive source, ask yourself if you would be upset wasting time and money on a therapist who charges less but doesn't understand or connect with you? Will you get frustrated wasting time meeting with several counselors before finding the right one?

It is never a therapist’s goal for someone to be in counseling forever! Counseling is short-term investment in your mental health and can improve your life long-term.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that sometimes things come up and you may not be able to keep a counseling appointment. I do require that you provide me with 24-hour notice if you will be unable to keep an appointment. Late Cancellation is defined within 24 hours of your session at the time your session is scheduled to begin. Any late cancellations or no-shows will result in a $75 charge for the missed session.

How long and how often will I be in therapy?

There is not a set amount of sessions or strict timeframe in which counseling must be completed. Most clients meet with me on a weekly basis initially, and as things improve, we reduce sessions to biweekly or once per month. I believe that the purpose of counseling is to provide you with support, coping skills, and resources to improve your ability to function and navigate life independently by connecting with someone who is caring and empathetic towards your unique needs. I'm proud to assist my clients during their time of need and help them get back on their feet.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

That’s a great question, and one that I would love to explore with you. My passion in counseling is to help helping individuals who are facing perinatal and postpartum or infertility difficulties, and those dealing with anxiety, depression or trauma. If you feel that you are in one of these categories, I encourage you to continue to read through my website’s Services and About Me pages that explain my personal approach to counseling, as well as the specific therapy services that I provide. One of the best ways to determine if my counseling services will be a good fit for you is by setting up a free 15-minute consultation. I would be more than happy to chat and see if we are a good fit!

Do you meet with clients in person?

I currently only offer online sessions. My clients have found this to be incredibly convenient for juggling their appointments with work, childcare, and home life. I also have found that clients who were new to counseling or nervous about starting felt more comfortable coming to appointments when they can be in their own safe space at home. How do I get started?

The best way to get started is by clicking on the contact me button located at the top of this page and filling out your information. You are also welcome to contact me via phone or email, which can be found in the same location. This will allow us to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation in which we will discuss why you are interested in counseling, any questions or concerns you may be having about starting, and what you are hoping to get out of our time together. Once we determine if this would be a good fit for you, we can discuss the next steps for scheduling our first appointment.
